Hi, my name is Nabeela, aka Beela, and I love to bake!
I am a twenty-something, recently married ‘lady’ with a huge passion for art, and more recently cooking. Although I have wanted to start a blog for many years, the last thing I expected was to have a food/baking blog. Art is my first love, and this is what I spent much of my youth trying to excel at. But that’s another story…

Even though I was born and brought up in London, UK, my parents are from a little island called Zanzibar on the East African coast. In addition, my great great grandparents had all migrated from India, and this is where my true ancestry lies. Because of this, I grew up with lots of East African dishes, alongside Indian dishes. My summers were always spent in Zanzibar, and on the mainland in Tanzania. But I was also fortunate enough to grow up constantly trying out new foods and travelling to different places. Add to this the fact that my dad had a Chinese/Thai restaurant, and I’m sure you can already get a picture of how exposed I was to different cuisines!
Eight years ago my family moved to Dubai in the UAE, which is a foodie haven, and where I have continued to discover lots of delicious new hotspots. I spent the first year of married life living in Zanzibar, and it was here that my blog first began (back in 2012, thanks to encouragement and coaxing from the husband!). I was able to spend a lot of (happy) time cooking, and thus my childhood love of baking reignited! Now I’m back in Dubai again and enjoying the benefit of living in such a food driven culture.

Other than that, I am an art history graduate, currently working as a digital media manager, who loves painting, and anything cultural, historical, or archaeological related.

In this blog you will find mostly baking and dessert recipes, with the occasional savoury dish too, as well as anything which I have made and enjoyed.
